Who's in charge?????
Once the soaring season gets under way the launch-point can become a very busy place, with many pilots keen to get an early tow to take advantage of the flying conditions.  With two tow-planes we can have a very good launch rate if we are properly organised.  This is where the Duty Marshall can help.  Working under the authority of the Instructor in charge, he/she also greatly aids safety with an extra pair of eyes and ears and through the keeping of flying lists and the log generally facilitates the flying of everyone else.  Additionally this is one of the key areas to welcome new members and bond them into the club.

This should be a fun activity and not a chore.  We have enough qualified people, generally Bronze C and above (CFI's discretion), that no more than a day a year is needed.  Slots of 9am-1.30pm and 1 pm to 5pm allow flexibility.  Although we recommend that you do your own slots, there are some members who enjoy this role and are willing to take on extra duties.

Click here to view the rota, and contact the office (01789 772606 or office@bidfordgliding.co.uk) to book your slots.  If you are rusty and need some training an information folder has been made available.

At Bidford many standard gliding club chores such as grass cutting etc. are done for the members but this task needs glider pilots so we all need to take a turn.  Therefore, unless you are already on the Instructor or Tow-Pilot Rota, a session is mandatory in 2008 - I'm sure we will all benefit.

There is an information manual for Duty Marshalls, which can be found in paper version in the office, or alternatively you can click here to download your own copy (in Word format).
