![]() Field at a minimum of Amber Stage until further notice - please see diagram at end of text for detailsWe welcome power visitors at Bidford, however please show due consideration to both our gliding activities and neighbours (see Noise Abatement page). Although we do not operate a winch, overhead joins are best avoided due to the likelihood of glider traffic. As we hold Gliding Competitions etc in Summer and can get boggy in the winter a call on 01789-772606 before take-off is mandatory and assures a friendly welcome.
We enjoy a smooth 800 metre runway with a 06/24 orientation. All power circuits are at 800ft to the South i.e. left-hand on Runway 24 and right-hand on Runway 06. Note that the preferred glider circuits are the same (especially look out for a glider ahead or inside of you) but that gliders may also be on a reciprocal North circuit. At weekends and busy periods we operate a ground station on the radio frequency 129.975 which will try and offer advisory details. Our tow-planes and most gliders are also on this frequency which we share with other glider sites. At all times blind calls pre-faced by "Bidford Traffic" are requested downwind and on final. Avgas 100ll is available during office hours and our usual landing fee of £6 is applied. Please feel free to use our excellent Cafe and, if you want to stay over, the camping facilities (Bar in Summer!). Our GPS position Finally, when the ground is soft the areas marked amber on the diagram below are the best ground. This area is also recommended for nose wheel aircraft throughout the year.
